Hi, in page 6 of slides “Path analysis”, I would like to ask some questions about the tracing rules of path analysis.
For the “rule a: Go backwards along single-headed arrows”, does it mean that the first step of tracing should be backwards?
For the “rule b: Change direction at one and only one double headed arrow”, does it mean that we must change the tracing direction when meeting doule headed arrow?

Hi @xueyingqin !
1- Yes. When you begin building the path, you go in a backwards direction.
2- “Does it mean that we must change the tracing direction when meeting doule headed arrow?” You don’t always HAVE to change directions when you encounter a double headed arrow. However, if you can if you see it. More importantly, if you DO NOT encounter a double headed arrow, you CANNOT change directions. Let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you very much, I understand now.
