Hi everyone,

As you probably know, a series of executive orders and reactionary litigation in the US has resulted in widespread uncertainty about the future of NIH funding. This is a challenging time for many of us, especially for postdocs. Now is the time that we postdocs are supposed to be securing grants to generate our foundational bodies of work and initiate our entry into academia, but it’s hard to do that when NIH funding is uncertain.

To address this, I’m working with the International Society of Psychiatric Genetics (ISPG) leadership to form a postdoc interest group within ISPG. The immediate goals of this group will be to form a supportive community of postdocs and to assemble a list of non-NIH sponsored funding opportunities for psychiatric genetics research. Future priorities are still under development and will be based on input from our members.

If you or a postdoc you know would be interested in joining this group, you/they can fill out the sign-up survey here

Lastly, whether or not you are interested in joining the postdoc interest group, if you know of any non-NIH sponsored funding opportunities in psych genetics please add them to [this spreadsheet](ISPG Non-NIH Funding Opportunities in Psychiatric Genetics - Google Sheets)

If you want to come talk to me about the group tomorrow (Friday), I’m a short brunette and I’ll have on a maroon sweater and jeans. I sit on the left side of the hall towards the front.

Thank you all!

Best,
