When you fix a covariance to 1, does this mean in layman’s terms that the two variants perfectly covary?

Yep!

> Replying to “When you fix a covariance to 1, does this mean in …”:

(Well, actually, it means that they perfectly covary if their variances are 1 - meaning they’re standardized.)

Yes, but importantly we are looking at traits here and not variants :)

> Replying to “When you fix a covariance to 1, does this mean in …”:

not specific variants\*

> Replying to “When you fix a covariance to 1, does this mean in …”:

so not the snps?

> Replying to “When you fix a covariance to 1, does this mean in …”:

variance and variances (properties of a trait/variable)not variants (snps) - sorry I know this is hard to hear some times
